If you are sailing, windsurfing, fishing, surfing etc. in Chorgota Beach don't forget to check the tide and wind and wave conditions
Chorgota Beach, located on the beautiful island of Kefalonia, Greece, is a lesser known gem that offers an idyllic setting for a beach holiday. Nestled between massive cliffs and surrounded by lush vegetation, this secluded beach provides a tranquil escape from the bustling city life. With its mesmerizing turquoise waters and serene ambiance, Chorgota Beach promises a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday experience.
Chorgota Beach is characterized by its coarse sand and pebble shoreline. The mixture of sand and pebble gives the beach a unique texture that is both comfortable to walk on and fascinating to observe. The crystal-clear waters are surrounded by rocky formations, providing an excellent environment for marine life to thrive. Because of these rocks and the underwater landscape, snorkeling and diving are particularly interesting activities at Chorgota Beach as they offer the opportunity to explore diverse aquatic life.
The most popular activities at Chorgota Beach include swimming, snorkeling, and diving due to its clear waters, diverse marine life, and interesting underwater landscapes. Sunbathing is also popular as the beach's location between cliffs offers plenty of sun with a bit of shade from nearby trees. For adventure seekers, hiking trails around the cliffs serve as access points to this secluded beach but also offer breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
Although there are no resorts or hotels directly on Chorgota Beach due to its secluded nature, there are plenty of accommodations within close proximity. Some options include Sami View Apartments in Sami town or Emelisse Hotel in Fiskardo town which both offer beautiful sea views.
Recommended areas to stay during your visit would be either Sami or Fiskardo town. Sami is home to many historical sites like Ancient Sami ruins and Melissani Cave while Fiskardo is renowned for its picturesque harbour filled with traditional Ionian buildings. Both towns offer a variety of restaurants, shops, and easy access to other beaches in Kefalonia.
Although Chorgota Beach is a secluded beach, basic amenities are available. These include a small parking area near the hiking trail to the beach, and nearby establishments in Sami or Fiskardo towns where you can grab some food and drinks. However, visitors are advised to bring their own sunshade or umbrella as there is limited natural shade on the beach itself.
