If you are sailing, windsurfing, fishing, surfing etc. in Lio Beach don't forget to check the tide and wind and wave conditions
Lio Beach and the surrounding resorts and developments (including the only airport in El Nido) are all owned by the Ayala corporation. Ayala also own the El Nido Resorts corporation which owns several of the high end island resorts in Bacuit bay, such as those on Matinloc, Miniloc, Lagen and Pangalusian islands. At Lio Beach they also own Seda Lio (5 star), Huni Lio (4 star), Balai Adlao (3 star), Isla Amara resorts. I stayed at Seda Lio in August 2023, rooms were around 15,000PHP or 300USD.
Lio Beach is has fine, fairly white sand that feels soft underfoot, providing a pleasant feeling as you walk along the shore. Most of Lio Beach and other beaches in El Nido have sandy bottoms which are comfortable for swimming. There aren't any rocky areas nearby for snorkeling and the presence of a nearby river means the waters can be cloudier than other El Nido beaches, especially during the rainy season when soil is washed off the land.
Lio Beach suffers from sand fleas, as do many of the El Nido beaches on Palawan island itself (both Duli and Nacpan), the small islands nearby tend to be more sand flea free. Sand fleas are tiny (almost invisible to the eye), locally they are known as Nik Niks. Do be aware that some people will be more attractive to the sand fleas than others, personally they love me and i could be bitten with in minutes of being on Lio Beach. Sand flea bites can be extremely itchy and swollen, worse than most mosquito bites, if you are bitten take anti-histamine and use a local balm called Katinko to cool the bites and reduce the itchiness.
At Lio Beach, a range of activities cater to different interests:
These activities capitalize on Lio Beach's natural assets: clear water for visibility in snorkeling, calm bays for kayaking and SUPs, and expansive sand areas ideal for volleyball or simply relaxing by the sea.
Lio Beach boasts several accommodation options that cater to different preferences and budgets:
When choosing an area to stay in around Lio Beach:
Staying within these areas ensures convenience as they're designed specifically with tourists' needs in mind while keeping you close to nature's splendor.
Visitors at Lio Beach can enjoy various amenities such as:
The availability of these amenities makes your stay comfortable without taking away from the rustic charm that El Nido offers.
