If you are sailing, windsurfing, fishing, surfing etc. in Golden Bay don't forget to check the tide and wind and wave conditions
Golden Bay is a relatively developed beach especially when compared to the more rural neighbouring beach at Ghajn Tuffieha. Golden Bay as the name suggests has a wide sandy beach, backed by a steep cliff and with a large hotel at one end - the Radisson Golden Sands Hotel. The beach has a lifeguard, sun lounger rental, watersports and refreshments during the summer months and is very popular with both tourists and locals. So popular that you may want to avoid it at busy times during the summer months if you prefer quiet beaches. If the wind is on shore from the north west it can get a bit wavey for swimming and watch out for the currents at those times and pay attention to the lifeguard flags.
Golden Bay is best visited during June, July, August and September when both the sea temperature and air temperature make for a perfect day at the beach. In April and May sunbathing will be pleasant but the low sea temperature will make swimming a little bracing.
Golden Bay, located in the northwest coast of Malta, is a popular holiday destination known for its stunning sandy beach and crystal-clear waters. The beach features golden yellow sand and is perfect for sunbathing and relaxation. The beach at Golden Bay is quite suitable for snorkeling and diving, as there are interesting rocky areas and reefs close to the shore. These rocky formations provide habitats for various marine species, making it an excellent spot to explore the underwater world.
Some recommended beach activities at Golden Bay include:
