If you are sailing, windsurfing, fishing, surfing etc. in The Blue Lagoon don't forget to check the tide and wind and wave conditions
The Blue Lagoon in Malta is a popular beach destination known for its crystal-clear waters and stunning natural beauty. Located on the small island of Comino, it is an ideal spot for a relaxing holiday with a variety of beach activities to choose from.
At the Blue Lagoon, you will find a mix of white powdery sand and rocky areas. The sandy sections are perfect for sunbathing and relaxing, while the rocky areas provide excellent opportunities for snorkeling and diving. The presence of rocks and nearby reefs makes this location a haven for marine life, attracting various fish species that make these activities even more enjoyable.
There are no hotels or resorts directly on Comino Island; however, there are plenty of accommodation options on neighboring islands Malta and Gozo. Both islands have numerous hotels, guesthouses, and vacation rentals to suit different budgets and preferences.
While the Blue Lagoon itself is a natural beach destination without extensive amenities, you can find some basic facilities such as:
Remember that the Blue Lagoon can get quite crowded during peak season since it's a popular tourist spot. It's best to arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon to enjoy the beach with fewer crowds.
Tell us what you think of this beach
The Blue Lagoon, hidden away on Comino island, is accessible by a short boat ride from Malta main island and perfect for an unforgettable day trip. The Blue Lagoon is famous for crystal clear blue azure waters over a white sandy seabed and beautiful ragged rocky coastline. There isn't much space for sunbathing, so be aware of crowds during weekends and peak summer holiday periods. Infact you will need to find a rock to lay down your towel and sunbathe, as the sandy area is very limited. The lagoon is picture perfect during the summer and has actually been on screen in movies and music videos in recent years. If you like to snorkel don't forget to bring your gear, this is one of the best snorkel spots in Malta.
The Blue Lagoon is best visited during June, July, August and September when both the sea temperature and air temperature make for a perfect day at the beach. In April and May sunbathing will be pleasant but the low sea temperature will make swimming a little bracing.
